Catch a show at the McAninch Arts Center but catch Waterleaf's pre-theater dinner first for $29. The three-course menu features three options for each course. Highlights include the seared scallops salad, braised snapper fillet in coconut and lemon grass broth, filet mignon with spiced butter, and the tiramisu. The pre-theater dinner is available Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Celebrate soup with Mon Ami Gabi

It's National Soup Month, and Mon Ami Gabi celebrates with soup flights for $5.95. The French bistro features a trio: onion soup au gratin with bubbling Gruyere cheese, four mushroom soup with roasted wild mushrooms and herb brioche croutons, and the always-changing cream of root vegetable soup.

Libertad, downtown Skokie's nuevo Latino neighborhood restaurant, now offers brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays with menu items priced as low as $6. Try the crab Benedict — an English muffin, Canadian bacon, lump crab meat, poached egg and serrano-yuzu hollandaise ($12), or the French toast made with habanero-butternut compote and roasted pineapple ice cream.
