System needs checks on uninsured drivers

With all the serious accidents that have been reported involving unlicensed, uninsured motorists, I have to question why the secretary of state’s office does not fully review the license renewal forms to ensure insurance information is provided and a system in place to cross check and confirm before a vehicle license is issued. Possibly many of these motorists could be kept off the road. I do not recall that information ever being requested at renewal time
