Vehicle speeding wrong way in head-on Lincolnshire crash, police say

A Honda CRV driving the wrong way at a high speed on Milwaukee Avenue in Lincolnshire crashed head-on into two other vehicles and sent four people to hospitals Friday night, authorities said Saturday.

One person is in critical condition with life threatening injuries after the crash about 9 p.m. The others have been released or are expected to be released in the coming days, police said.

Police said several 911 callers reported a reckless driver who was possibly under the influence about 8:50 p.m. Friday.

The Honda hit street signs on Half Day Road before turning south on the wrong side of Milwaukee, police said. A Lincolnshire police officer near Milwaukee Avenue and Aptakisic Road saw the Honda pass him at a high speed heading south in the northbound lanes of Milwaukee Avenue.

All three drivers provided blood and urine samples for toxicology tests. The Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County assisted with the investigation, and when it's complete, “appropriate charges will be filed,” police said.
