Pedestrian killed after hit-and-run crash on I-88 near Oak Brook

A person was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Sunday morning on Interstate 88 near Oak Brook, Illinois State Police said.

State police said a Jeep was westbound on I-88 at about 8:23 a.m. when it struck the victim, who was standing outside a vehicle involved in an earlier crash. The Jeep then left the scene.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, officials said.

The right lane of westbound I-88 was closed for investigation near the scene until about 11:58 a.m.
