Match immigrants, jobs
America’s employers posted 8.8 million job openings in November, according to an article in the Chicago Tribune. As thousands of immigrants stream into our country, there is a match waiting to happen. A high-powered council of business, education and immigration officials could streamline the transition of immigrants into available jobs.
The article says that cooling the red-hot job market would reduce inflationary pressure on businesses to raise pay and prices. A quick matching also would make businesses and the economy more productive and help immigrants while easing their burden on communities.
