Man charged with robbing employee and customer at Arlington Heights Dunkin’

An 18-year-old man was charged Thursday with robbing an employee and customer at a doughnut shop on the south side of Arlington Heights.

Antwoin Mason is charged with three counts of aggravated robbery and one count of identity theft stemming from the holdup just after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Dunkin’, 2106 S. Arlington Heights Road, police said.

He was released following a detention hearing Thursday morning at the Rolling Meadows courthouse.

Police said a robber implied he had a firearm as he demanded personal items from a store employee and customer. Those items were recovered at the time of Mason’s arrest some three hours later at the nearby Suburban Studios motel, where he was registered, said police Cmdr. Petar Milutinovic.

The robber was unsuccessful in getting any cash from the doughnut shop, Milutinovic added.

One of the stolen items was a credit card used before Mason’s arrest, authorities said.

“There was some surveillance involved,” Milutinovic said. “There was enough information and evidence that quickly developed and was quickly corroborated at the time of his arrest to verify that the same individual that was arrested was responsible for the robberies.”

The store employee and customer were not injured.
