Rockford police investigating body found lying in street

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - Police are conducting a death investigation after a 52-year-old man's body was found on the southwest side of Rockford.

Officers arrived at the scene Saturday afternoon following a report of a man lying in the road. The Rockford Register Star (http://bit.ly/1MkCy60 ) reports attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Winnebago County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Hintz says there were no obvious signs of trauma. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
