Garden club to host program on ‘The Frozen Legacy of Illinois’
Learn about “The Frozen Legacy of Illinois” at the next Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
It will begin with a social time at 6:45 p.m. at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31). It will be followed by a business meeting and presentation.
Glacial processes in Illinois left behind unique landforms such as moraines and drumlins, influencing local soil patterns.
The varied soil types resulting from glaciation have implications for land use, agricultural practices, and ecosystem dynamics in Illinois.

Trish Burns is an independent freelance educator. She has over 25 years experience in environmental education. She has previously worked as a ranger in the National Parks, at the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Notebaert Nature Museum. She has a bachelor of science from Illinois State University in Biology and Geology.
