Toward equity in Gaza war coverage
I’ve noticed in the past several weeks of the DH/AP’s coverage of Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza that all of the pictures (and accompanying narratives) show the terrible destruction (of buildings and innocent human life) of Israel’s attacks in Gaza, but none have shown the cause of and reason for such attacks and destruction - Hamas’ horrific and unprovoked murder, torture, rape and kidnapping of innocent Jewish lives in Israel on Oct. 7.
Readers need to be reminded of this cause/effect relationship (which also has a Biblical basis: Galatians 6:7 - “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”). So in the interest of fairness, my admonition is that for every Gaza-related picture you publish, you ought also to publish one showing a Hamas’ attack in Israel.
