No. 20 South Florida women eliminate SMU from AAC 73-60

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - Courtney Williams scored 29 points and No. 20 South Florida eliminated SMU from the American Athletic Conference tournament, 73-60, on Saturday.

Second-seeded USF (22-8) will face No. 3-seed Temple (20-10), winners over sixth-seeded Tulsa, in the semifinals on Sunday.

Williams was 12 of 26 from the field with four 3-pointers and grabbed eight rebounds. Ariadna Pujol scored 16 points for the Bulls.

South Florida (22-8) got up big early. The Bulls led 23-15 after the first quarter, then limited SMU to eight points in the second and led 39-23 at the break.

SMU rallied a bit in the second half, but got no closer than 10 points.

Morgan Bolton led SMU (13-18) with 15 points and seven rebounds. Stephanie Collins had 14 points, while Gabrielle Wilkins and Dai'ja Thomas added 11 points apiece.

The Mustangs were just 2 of 10 from beyond the arc and had 22 turnovers.
