Elk Grove Rotary working internationally in India
The Elk Grove Rotary Club is best known for its annual Rotary Fest, held every Father's Day, near Elk Grove High School. Although the fest is a lot of work for a club of about 25 members, the real difference the club makes is the other 360 days of the year. The club helps may local organizations like the Kenneth Young Center, Boy Scouts, PADS and awards local scholarships to name a few.
The club is also very active with international projects including a current project in India, to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
The club, with help from Rotary District 6440, the Neemuch Club in India, and the Rotary Charitable Trust in Mumbai, India, coordinated the construction of a new toilet facility in the town of Neemuch, India. The project took about three months to construct and was completed in December 2015. The public toilet is now used by towns people and travelers; approximately 2,000 visitors a day. Previously there was no public toilet.
The Elk Grove Rotary Club meets at 12:15 p.m. on Thursdays at Jimmy's Charhouse, 1180 W. Devon Ave., in Elk Grove Village.
