Wadsworth woman, Gurnee man shot in Waukegan
A 22-year-old Wadsworth woman and a 23-year-old Gurnee man were shot Monday in Waukegan, police said Tuesday.
Authorities were called just before noon for a report of double shooting in a parking lot on the 21000 block of North Green Bay Road, a news release said. While en route, police discovered the two victims in a red Jeep near Glen Flora Avenue and Jackson Street. The Jeep had numerous bullet holes.
The Wadsworth woman suffered a gunshot wound to her left arm and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center. The Gurnee man sustained a graze wound to his back and was taken to Vista Medical Center in Waukegan. Neither injury was life-threatening, police said.
Police said the victims had been parked next to a vehicle where the gunfire originated. Officers found 16 spent casings at the scene, the news release said.
The red Jeep crashed into a black Jeep Cherokee as the victims fled. No one in the Jeep Cherokee was injured, but that SUV was hit by bullets as well.
No arrests have been made. The case remains under investigation.
