Man arrested after Des Plaines cops find loaded gun, drugs in car
A Des Plaines man was arrested early Monday after police found a loaded gun, cannabis and alcohol in his vehicle during a traffic stop in the city, authorities said.
The driver also struggled with police during the arrest, according to a news release.
Jose Zamora, 27, of the 1400 block of Wedgewood Avenue., is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a concealed firearm, resisting a peace officer and driving under the influence of alcohol, and he was ticketed for possession of cannabis and traffic-related violations, police said.
The arrest occurred about 12:30 a.m. on the 1500 block of Wolf Road, according to police. An officer stopped Zamora's car because he repeatedly changed lanes without using a turn signal, police said.
Zamora told the officer he'd been drinking before driving, authorities say. The handgun was found behind the driver's seat on the car's floor, police said.
