Baseball: Fremd falls to LZ; Buffalo Grove tops Glenbrook North
Sophomore Ben Cornelius pitched 6 shutout innings, freshman Tyler Snep hit a solo homer, and Lake Zurich's baseball team blanked Fremd 2-0 in a nonconference game on Friday.
Snep and Kevin Johlie had the Bears' only hits. Cornelius allowed 4 hits, struck out six and walked three. Trevor Niedzwiecki struck out one in his 1 inning to earn the save.
Buffalo Grove 12, Glenbrook North 3: The Bison (15-17) got doubles from Mac Camardo and Jack Vaselaney as part of a 12-hit attack in a nonconference win.
Conant 5, Waukegan 3: Jack Reiger produced an RBi single in a 3-run sixth inning to help make a winner of reliever Hiro Fukuda as visiting Conant (17-17) picked up a nonconference win.
Grant 6, Palatine 5: The visiting Bulldogs scored once in the top of the seventh inning to pick up a nonconference win.
Jake Moertl hit a solo homer and Danny Schneberger had a pair of hits for Palatine (17-16).
