Baseball: Janke's hot bat leads Huntley over Dundee-Crown
Huntley senior Dylan Janke belted 2 doubles and a solo home run in 3 at-bats and drove in 4 runs to pace an 11-1 victory over Dundee-Crown in a five-inning Fox Valley Conference win Wednesday.
Michael Talesky and Jackson Broom each contributed 2 hits and Jason Peters doubled for Huntley (8-2, 2-0). Hunter Rumachik pitched 4 innings and limited the Chargers to an earned run on 3 hits and 2 walks and struck out 4.
Justin Colon had 2 hits for Dundee-Crown (2-6, 0-2), which used four pitchers.
East Aurora 11, Elgin 6: The Tomcats broke open a 2-run game with a 6-run sixth inning to complete the 3-game Upstate Eight series sweep on the road. The Maroons collected 12 hits. Kejuan Harvey led the Maroons with 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Levondrick Marshall and Johnny Villegas each drove in 2 runs for Elgin (0-5-1, 0-3).
Harvest Christian Academy 6, Elgin Academy 5: The Lions loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh via a Gil Duran leadoff single followed by two walks, and Jack McMahon bunted home the winning run for the walk-off nonconference win at Judson University. Jack Nohava (3 RBI) and Brock Wilken (2 runs) each counted a double among 2 hits for Harvest Christian (6-2). Ethan Hill, CJ Carani and Connor Reece had the only hits for Elgin Academy (3-4).
Geneva 9, Waubonsie Valley 1: Jackson Chase hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to seal the nonconference win for Geneva (6-2-1). Nick Black (2.2 innings, 5 strikeouts) and Ben Croci (4.1 innings, 6 strikeouts) combined to hold the Warriors to an earned run on 7 hits in nonconference play.
West Aurora 5, Streamwood 0: The Blackhawks avoided a 3-game sweep in the Upstate Eight, thanks to a complete-game shutout by Logan Mont, who struck out 9, allowed 5 hits and issued one walk. Mont, Alex Losselyoung and Graham Rachow doubled and Danny Marion homered and drove in 2 runs for West Aurora (5-4, 1-2).
Streamwood (4-3, 2-1) managed 5 hits, including 2 apiece from Dylan Caruso and Colin Bielinski.
South Elgin 8, Glenbard South 1: Logan Romassanta held the Raiders to an earned run on 6 hits, walked 3 and struck out 4 in the Upstate Eight win. Austin Doty (2-for-3) doubled for the Storm (4-1, 2-1).
Jacobs 12, Crystal Lake Central 10: The Golden Eagles allowed 4 runs in the bottom of the seventh but held on for the Fox Valley Conference win. Kyle Washington led the offense with 3 hits in 5 at-bats and Luke Holub hit a solo home run for Jacobs (4-4, 1-1).
