Records: Routine personal use of Collinsville credit cards

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Spending records show that a southwestern Illinois elected leader facing criticism for personal use of Collinsville credit cards isn't the only city official to adopt the practice.

The Belleville News-Democrat (bit.ly/21T2pM3 ) reports that six other Collinsville officials in four years reimbursed personal purchases made on city-issued credit cards.

Collinsville City Council member Cheryl Brombolich has resisted calls from two colleagues to step down over her personal use of a municipal credit card while working as city clerk and operations manager.

She called such use an "accepted practice" at Collinsville City Hall despite a policy forbidding the act. Brombolich has repaid more than $3,300 in personal credit charges.

Councilwoman Nancy Moss says that unlike Brombolich, the other employees who reimbursed the city did so on their own.
