Baseball: Larsen pitches Vernon Hills to victory

Vernon Hills 7, Niles West 4: Starting pitcher Brad Larsen got the win for Vernon Hills, finishing with 5 strikeouts over three innings.

Larsen also had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs. Matt Gramins added 2 hits and a double while Brennan Reback had 2 hits and a triple.

Vernon Hills improved to 5-8 and 1-1 in the Central Suburban League.

Grant 6, Antioch 0: Ricky Allen pounded a 2-run home run to help Grant get a shutout in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Winning pitcher Sam Fernandez, who is 3-0 on the mound, rolled up 6 strikeouts over seven innings.

Grant, which is 7-6 on the season, also got 3 hits from Nolan Unger and a double out of Jack Gorden.

Grayslake Central 10, Round Lake 0: Ray Bradley tossed four innings and Coby Moe and Jack Fortman each tossed one inning as the three pitchers combined on a no-hitter to lead the Rams to a six-inning shutout victory. The three pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts.

Offensively, Bryce Gniadek had a triple and 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Ryan Spicer and Clayton Bloemke both added a pair of singles for the Rams and Tyler Looyer had a 2-run single.
