Cindy Crawford to give award to photographer who exiled her

CHICAGO (AP) - Model Cindy Crawford will present Chicago photographer Victor Skrebneski, who once banned her from his studio, the city's Fifth Star Award.

The 86-year-old Skrebneski is famed for his advertising photographs for Estee Lauder, Chanel and Givenchy, and black-and-white portraits of celebrities, including Dennis Hopper, Bette Davis and Sharon Stone.

Skrebneski banned Crawford from his North Side studio when she was a 19-year-old and elected to take a 10-day editorial job in Egypt that interfered with her catalogue shoot with Skrebneski.

In her book, "Becoming," the 50-year-old Crawford wrote she had hoped Skrebneski would be gracious about her decision. She wrote Skrebneski didn't speak to her for 15 years.

Crawford told the Chicago Tribune (http://trib.in/2cqneMa ) she now has a real friendship with Skrebneski, and being able to give him the award Wednesday "just feels great."
