Chicago man charged for 3rd time for impersonating officer

CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago man who has twice been convicted of falsely impersonating a police officer has been charged with doing so again.

Chicago police say 47-year-old Hong Chu was driving on Chicago's South Side when he pulled his vehicle behind another vehicle and climbed out wearing police insignia on his t-shirt and carrying handcuffs on his belt. Hu allegedly told the driver that he was a police officer before he left. Chu was spotted by police a short time later and taken into custody.

Chu is charged with a felony count of impersonating a peace officer and is scheduled to appear in court Monday. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

The Chicago Tribune (http://trib.in/24UARaq ) reports that Chu was on probation for his second offense when he was arrested.
