Neighbor rescues disabled resident from lightning fire

AURORA, Ill. (AP) - Fire officials say a neighbor helped a disabled resident and another person escape from a home in suburban Chicago that caught fire after apparently being struck by lightning.

Aurora Fire Department Lt. Jim Rhodes tells The Beacon-News that (http://trib.in/2akJg5F ) part of the roof had burned away and partially collapsed into the upper floor before firefighters could get to the scene Friday.

No one was injured in the blaze, which Rhodes said was probably due to a lightning strike.

He says one of the residents is an invalid who was helped out of the home by a neighbor.

The home was a total loss.
