Mundelein schools need food donations

Mundelein High School District 120 and Mundelein Elementary District 75 have partnered to provide food to families, and are in need of donations for the next distribution, scheduled for April 5.

Needed items include shampoo; soap; toothpaste; feminine products; baby wipes; diapers; cleaning spray/cleaning wipes; macaroni and cheese; pasta and pasta sauce; peanut butter and jelly; tortillas; canned meats, vegetables, and fruit; applesauce; fruit snacks; granola bars; rice; beans (dry or canned); and, condiments such as ketchup and mayonnaise.

Gift cards in $10 increments to grocery stores such as Jewel, Mariano's, Aldi and Target are also sought. Besides providing remote lunch and breakfast meal service at select locations on certain dates, the districts are preparing food boxes for families in cooperation with The Chapel of Mundelein.

So far, two deliveries have been made to families with children in school districts 73, 75, 76 79 and 120. Donations can be dropped off any time at The Chapel, 1966 W. Hawley St., Mundelein, where there are weatherproof bins. Donations for this distribution need to be received by 9 a.m., Saturday, April 4.
