Palatine holiday tree lighting Saturday

Mayor Jim Schwantz, Santa Claus and one lucky kid will light Palatine's holiday tree at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Towne Square Park.

The village put out a call for kids to write a one-page letter about the importance of the season. The kid with the winning letter will get to help ring in the season.

The Downtown Palatine Business Association will provide a family-friendly activity from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. leading up to the tree-lighting ceremony. There will also be beautiful lights, holiday treats, festive music and pictures with Santa.
