ISU residence hall to get $23M renovation, its first AC

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - A more than half-century-old residence hall at Indiana State University is set for a $23 million renovation that will include equipping it with its first air conditioning system.

Work will begin in May on the 12-story Cromwell Hall on the Terre Haute and should be complete by July 2017.

The Tribune-Star reports (http://bit.ly/1TY6NGF ) the building will be gutted and renovated to add new mechanical, heating and fire alarm systems, and its first air conditioning system.

ISU official Bryan Duncan says the air conditioning will be "a major improvement" to the building, which will also get a lounge, new reception areas and kitchens.

Cromwell Hall was dedicated in 1964 and currently houses 366 students. But that will be reduced to 320 students because of the added lounge and other spaces.
