Arizona trucking company opens operations center in Indiana

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (AP) - A Phoenix-based trucking company says it plans to open a regional operations service center in Indiana that will bring up to 426 new jobs to the state by 2021.

Knight Transportation Inc. made the announcement Tuesday morning along with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and the state's Economic Development Corporation. The truckload transportation and logistics service company has spent $4.6 million into a 25-acrec campus in Plainfield in suburban Indianapolis. It moved into the facility in January.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Knight Transportation up to $3.6 million in conditional tax credits for the facility. Officials say the town of Plainfield approved additional incentives.

The company will use the new facility to serve its customers in Indianapolis and Chicago markets.
