Celebrating Ansel B. Cook's 200th
The Libertyville Historical Society and the Ansel B. Cook chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution are hosting a 200th birthday party for Ansel B. Cook from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at his namesake park in downtown Libertyville. Visitors are invited to sign a birthday card and take a selfie with a life-size cutout of one best known figures in Libertyville's history. Children's activities and a hands-on history table will be offered. Cook was a state legislator and stone masonry contractor. His mansion facing Milwaukee Avenue in the center of town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the village's most recognizable landmarks.
