Plato Center HCE to celebrate HCE Week Oct. 8-14
The Plato Center unit for Home and Community Education will meet at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at the Plato Center Town Hall, 10N924 Rippberger Road. The hostesses are Jackie Anderson, Barbara Lee and Verlene Schroeder.
The lesson for living is "Eggs" and everything you need to know. The lesson will review organic, free range, lower cholesterol, and other varieties of eggs to provide consumers with the knowledge to make well-informed decisions when purchasing eggs and keeping eggs safe from farm to fork.
Barbara Lee and Verlene Schroeder, membership directors, will be collecting state dues of $17 and treasurer Joan Rossi will be collecting unit dues of $8. The signup sheet for the International luncheon will be passed around. The country of study is the Philippines.
Joan Ziethen and Nancy Haire attended the Kane County Board meeting Sept. 13 where Joan Ziethen was honored to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and then accepted a certificate of recognition where the Kane County Board recognized October as Home and Community Education month. Barbara Allan was the presenter.
On Sept. 22, Joan Ziethen and Nancy Haire attended the Elgin City Council meeting where Mayor David Kaptain presented a proclamation designating the week of Oct. 8-14 as HCE Week.
On Wednesday, Oct. 11, the Kane County Association for Home and Community Education will have their open house at the Extension office, 535 S. Randall Road in St. Charles. From noon to 3 p.m., the guest Willie Etta Wright will speak on "Way to Recall Memories." Members of the community are invited to this event. The meetings at Plato Center are open to all.
