Brazil's Sylvinho to coach Lyon next season
PARIS (AP) - Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed Sylvinho will coach the seven-time French champion next season.
Sylvinho, a former Barcelona and Arsenal player, will replace Bruno Genesio, who led the team to a third-place finish but is out of contract and faced hostility from Lyon fans throughout the season.
Aulas said on Saturday after Lyon beat Caen 4-0 to seal Champions League football next season that Sylvinho was hand-picked by fellow Brazilian Juninho, a former Lyon midfielder who returns as sporting director.
"Sylvinho, it's class," Aulas said.
Sylvinho had been working as a technical assistant to Brazil coach Tite.
