Elgin police probing shooting in downtown apartment

Elgin police are investigating a shooting they say occurred in a State Street apartment.

Officers were summoned about 11 a.m. Saturday to the downtown apartment on the 100 block of South State on a report of a person having been shot, according to a news release. Police said the shooting victim was taken to a hospital.

Major Investigations Division detectives responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate the shooting. Police said it's believed all parties involved are known to each other.
