Person using heat gun to thaw pipes starts fire in Naperville

A person trying to thaw frozen pipes using a heat gun started a blaze on the 1100 block of Nashua Drive in Naperville just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

No one was injured in the kitchen fire at 10:54 p.m., authorities said.

Resident phoned 9-1-1 to report smoke in the first-floor kitchen and second-floor bathroom, authorities said.

Residents had safely evacuated the home prior to firefighters arriving on scene, authorities said.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, authorities said. The home was deemed habitable.

Naperville Fire was assisted on scene by the Naperville Police Department. The Warrenville Fire Protection District provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident.
