Incumbents lead GOP primary for McHenry County District 3 seats

Two veteran McHenry County Board members took early leads Tuesday night in their quest to win the Republican nomination and return to their District 3 seats.

With 10 of 41 precincts reporting late Tuesday night, unofficial results showed incumbents Michael Walkup and Nick Provenzano, who have 16 years experience on the board between them, leading a four-person field for the Republican nomination with 1,311 and 1,289 votes, respectively.

Challengers Nancy Gonsiorek of Crystal Lake and Cherie Rickert of McHenry rounded out the field with 853 and 825 votes, respectively.

The top two finishers advance to the Nov. 8 general election, where two, 2-year terms are at stake. Kenneth Miller of Crystal Lake is running as a Democrat.
