Early voting start brings queues of voters in some counties

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Early voting has begun in Indiana.

Some Indiana county clerk offices had lines of voters queued up to cast ballots on the first day of early voting Wednesday, nearly four weeks ahead of the Nov. 8 general election.

A WISH-TV reporter posted on Twitter that 987 people voted Wednesday at the Marion County clerk's office in Indianapolis, a 31 percent increase from the first day of early voting in 2008.

The Indiana secretary of state's office says Hoosiers can vote early in-person at their county clerk offices. In some counties, there might be additional locations.

Absentee ballots also are available by mail from county election offices. Voters also can obtain an application to vote absentee by mail on the web at IndianaVoters.com.
