LEADING OFF: Bradley's 26-game hit streak, Braun recovering
A look at what's happening all around the majors today:
___
HIT MACHINE
Jackie Bradley Jr. will take a 26-game hitting streak for Boston into the series finale at Fenway Park against Cleveland righty Danny Salazar (4-2, 1.80 ERA). Dom DiMaggio set the Red Sox record of a 34-game hitting streak in 1949.
BACK AT IT?
Brewers OF Ryan Braun could return to face the Mets after missing four games with a stiff back. He was feeling better on Saturday, and manager Craig Counsell said Braun "definitely took a step in the right direction." Braun is batting .364 with seven homers and 28 RBIs in 35 games this season.
BIG ARM RETURNS
Top Cardinals pitching prospect Alex Reyes will make his first start of the season at Triple-A Memphis after serving a 50-game suspension for a positive marijuana test. The 21-year-old right-hander has one of the strongest arms in the minor leagues and struck out 151 batters in 101 1/3 innings across three levels last season.
CHECKUP
The Rays might find out more about center fielder Kevin Kiermaier, a day after he broke his left hand trying to make a diving catch at Detroit. Regarded as one of the top defensive outfielders in the majors, he broke his glove hand. Tampa Bay hasn't yet said how long he'll be sidelined.
TRYING AGAIN
Yankees righty Michael Pineda (1-5, 6.60 ERA) has lost a career-worst five straight decisions going into his start at Oakland.
