Holcomb gets new $1 million boost from national GOP group

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Republican Eric Holcomb is getting another $1 million boost from a national GOP group as he tries to extend the party's hold on the Indiana governor's office.

State disclosure reports show this week's Republican Governors Association contribution increases Holcomb's total take from the group to $7.6 million since early August. Holcomb's campaign has been heavily dependent on that support, which is more than half of his total fundraising.

Holcomb is in a tight race with Democrat John Gregg heading into Tuesday's election to replace Republican Gov. Mike Pence.

The Democratic Governors Association has given about $3 million to Gregg, including $100,000 this week. Labor unions have also contributed heavily to Gregg, whose campaign has raised more than $17 million overall.
