Police: Chicago boy dies after accidentally shooting himself

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police say a 7-year-old boy has died after accidentally shooting himself in the head.
The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the boy as Devon Lofton. Officials say he shot himself inside a home in the city's Englewood neighborhood at about 3:50 p.m. on Sunday.
Police say after the shooting the boy was rushed to University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:36 p.m.
Police did not immediately have information about where the child got the gun and whether it was legally owned by someone in the house. They say the investigation is ongoing.
