MLS-leading Dallas beats Sporting 2-1
FRISCO, Texas (AP) - FRISCO, Texas (AP) - Mauro Rosales broke a tie in the 68th minute and MLS-leading Dallas beat Sporting Kansas City 2-1 on Sunday.
Rosales entered as a substitute in the 63rd minute and made his first touch of the game five minutes later on a free kick that hooked over the wall into the left corner. It was first goal since joining Dallas during the offseason.
Sporting KC remained fourth in the overall standings, tied with the Eastern Conference-leading Montreal.
Sporting's Lawrence Olum opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a point-blank header to finish Benny Feilhaber's corner.
Dallas equalized it in the 35th minute when Michael Barrios pounced on Kellyn Acosta's long ball and powered home a shot despite a deflection off goalkeeper Tim Melia's hands. It was Barrios' fourth goal in five games.
ORLANDO CITY 2, NEW ENGLAND 2
ORLANDO, Florida (AP) - Lee Nguyen sconverted a penalty in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time to give New England a 2-2 draw at Orlando city.
Kevin Molino had put Orlando City in front in the second minute of stoppage time with a low close-range blast.
Orlando players argued the hand-ball penalty that led to Nguyen's penalty, suggesting the ball hit Servando Carrasco on the shoulder. Referee Baldomero Toledo also initially called the penalty outside the area and then changed the call after some discussion with his assistant.
The Revolution disputed Molino's goal, arguing he committed a hand ball.
Kaka opened the scoring in the second minute with the fastest penalty in MLS history at 1:37. He converted after Orlando's Julio Baptista drew a foul 15 seconds into the match.
Teal Bunbury equalized in the 37th minute for New England.
