Arlington Heights Community Bike Ride Sept. 1

The Bike Arlington Heights Community Bike Ride is set to take place at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, beginning at North School Park.

Organized by the village's Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission, the ride begins with a four-mile "starter" loop. After four miles, riders will have the option to continue on a longer loop for a total of 13 miles.

The theme of the ride is "ride to the schools" and it features a short loop to Prospect High School as the starter loop and then a larger loop to Rolling Meadows High School. The main goals of the ride are to encourage safe alternatives to driving for residents, community awareness, and health and fitness.

The event also includes bicycle mechanical assistance, water and snacks. All riders are asked to wear a helmet and be familiar with rules of the road and basic bicycle operation.
