Indianapolis man sentenced to 30 years in missing baby case
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indianapolis man whose 3-month-old daughter disappeared more than two years ago has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for neglect.
Jeffrey Fairbanks was convicted in April of that charge but acquitted of murder.
Janna Rivera disappeared on May 29, 2015 and was presumed dead after search of at least three counties over several weeks found no trace of the girl. She has never been found.
An affidavit says Fairbanks first told investigators he could not remember anything about the day his daughter disappeared but later told them he would lead them to the body and took them to an apartment complex dumpster, but the dumpster was empty.
His attorney has said an appeal is planned.
