Cause of house explosion that killed 2 remains unknown

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Three months later, authorities in Evansville say they don't know what caused a house explosion that killed two people.

Evansville Battalion Chief Charles Hertzberger says the cause will remain unknown due to many factors, including damage caused by the fire and explosion. He tells the Evansville Courier & Press that the scene was also disturbed as emergency crews looked for victims.

Two women were killed and three more people were injured at the rental home on June 27. The victims were identified as Sharon Mand and Kathleen Woolems.

WFIE-TV reports that one of the survivors still is at University of Louisville Hospital.
