Carol Stream honoring top volunteers

Carol Stream is looking for Citizen of the Year nominees and asking residents and organizations to nominate the volunteers that help make the community a better place.

The program to honor outstanding volunteers dates to 1965, and this year will feature the 2017 Citizen of the Year, the Special Citizen of the Year and the Judges Recognition award.

The Citizen of the Year award is presented to a resident for recognition of volunteer service provided to the community during the past year.

The Special Citizen of the Year award recognizes a person who has provided five or more years of continuous volunteer service to the community.

The Judges Recognition award is presented to a person living outside Carol Stream who has provided exemplary volunteer service in the village.

Applications are due by Dec. 13 and are available online at www.citizenoftheyear.com

All nominees will be honored during a public ceremony and banquet Feb. 3 at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream. Ticket information is available at www.citizenoftheyear.com.
