Suburban Indianapolis church congregants robbed at gunpoint
LAWRENCE, Ind. (AP) - Police in suburban Indianapolis are asking for help finding three men accused of walking into a church and robbing the congregation at gunpoint.
Lawrence Police Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff says the robbery was reported about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Centro Cristiano Church in the suburb northeast of Indianapolis. Police say the congregants were ordered to the ground and robbed. Victims told officers one man stayed at the church door and pointed a gun at those in the church while the other two men took the congregants' money and personal items.
Police say the suspects may have fled north and west around the church after the robbery. Officers say they're returning to the area today in search of surveillance video.
