The City of St. Charles will host its annual Arbor Day celebration at 4 p.m. Friday, April 28, in Lincoln Park, Main and Fourth streets. This event is organized by the Tree Commission of St. Charles. Everyone is invited!

Enjoy art, music, a tree raffle, free perennial giveaways, tree care demonstrations, educational materials for homeowners, refreshments and special tree-related programs. Entries from "Diversity in the Urban Forest" participants also will be displayed at this event. Also, in honor of Arbor Day, a special tree will be planted and dedicated at Davis Primary School, 1125 S. Seventh St.

St. Charles is a Tree City USA community, recognized for its commitment and care of trees. The city's urban forestry program promotes tree species diversity in our parks, natural areas and neighborhood parkways. Since 1998, St. Charles has held an Arbor Day celebration supporting tree education and stewardship. Arbor Day was founded in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton, and St. Charles continues this tradition celebrating the connection between trees and people and the many benefits of trees.

Thanks to the city's commitment to beautification and planting trees in order to make the community a more enjoyable place for residents and visitors of all ages, the St. Charles Arbor Day celebration exemplifies the city's mission of "Heritage. Community. Service. Opportunity."
