Prosecutors announce Indianapolis drug trafficking arrests

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Federal prosecutors say they've dismantled an Indianapolis drug trafficking organization that dealt in methamphetamine, marijuana and other drugs.

U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler announced Tuesday that 14 defendants face charges including conspiracy to deal controlled substances and firearms offenses. Search warrants were executed on Friday and those recently arrested include seven Indianapolis men in their 20s or early 30s.

Minkler's office says some of those charged referred to themselves as being part of "Stupid Star Entertainment," which they claimed was a rap group. Agents seized methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids and other drugs as well as cash, cellphones and 10 guns.

The case was investigated by Indianapolis police, federal authorities and state police. It's part of broader federal efforts to curb gun violence by using aggressive federal prosecution.
