Authorities: 3rd person dies after crash in eastern Indiana

GASTON, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a third person has died following a crash in eastern Indiana.

Eighteen-year-old driver Joshua Hartley of rural Gaston and a passenger in his late 20s were pronounced dead at the scene of the Tuesday crash. The sheriff's department says it was notified Wednesday by the Marion County coroner's office that 18-year-old passenger Lydia J. Astrop, who was taken to an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition, also died.

The sheriff's department says the car driven by Hartley was southbound on a rural road near Gaston with three passengers when it crossed the center line and collided with a northbound vehicle driven by 68-year-old Benjamin Parsons.

Hartley's brother 18-year-old Jacob Hartley was reported in critical condition at a Muncie hospital. Parsons also was injured and was being treated in Indianapolis.
