Kansas stuns TCU 81-64 to snap 20-game losing streak

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Lauren Aldridge scored 23 points and Chayla Cheadle added 15 as the tenth-seeded Kansas women snapped a 20-game losing streak and beat No. 7 seed TCU 81-64 Friday night in a first-round game of the Big 12 Conference tournament.

The Jayhawks (6-24), whose last win came on Dec. 13, 2015, will play second-seeded Texas on Saturday.

TCU's only lead was at 2-0 on Carol Willie's layup. Kansas went on a 9-0 run and led 17-13 at the end of the first quarter.

The Jayhawks started the second on a 13-3 run. Destynee Hives-McCray's layup brought TCU with 35-32 before Kansas went on a 7-0 run to close the half.

The Horned Frogs (16-14) again pulled to within three on AJ Alix's layup, but a pair of Aldridge free throws capped a 9-0 run to make it 50-39 with 4:43 left in the third. Kansas pushed the score to 60-46 at the end of the quarter and TCU trailed by double figures the rest of the way.

Alix finished with 16 points for TCU.
