Not enough wealthy to bail out those in debt

Regarding the columns in the May 16 paper about Trump, one "blames" Evangelicals and the other sees a "bigger danger."

A book was written about democracies like ours that in essence points out that none have survived more than 250 years! There's the saying, "the pendulum swings." The issue seems to be that whatever the issue, people go to extremes trying to fix it. We're living in a time and place where enlightenment mentality instead of self-responsibility is taking over. That makes people vote for whoever is going to give them what they want, and politicians cater to that to get elected.

When the majority of the nation gets dependent on the government giving them everything, you get what we've got. States like ours and the nation as a whole are so far in debt they can't recover. There aren't enough wealthy people to bail them out, thus as the pendulum swings to the extreme, the whole thing tips over.
