Fox River Valley Public Library District seeks input on library's future

The Fox River Valley Public Library District has released a new online survey asking residents for their feedback regarding the future of the library.

The survey can be found on the library's website at www.frvpld.info. It is available in English and Spanish.

The board of trustees is asking the public for their input before spending money on consultants. Illinois has 340 library districts, and the Fox River Valley Public Library District is seventh largest by population served but only No. 313 in library building square feet per capita. (Rankings as reported in the Illinois Public Libraries Annual Report for 2018.)

In addition, available square footage may shrink once the Randall Oaks Library lease is up in 2022.

The survey presents four options for consideration and includes an interactive map where residents can indicate where they think a library, or libraries, should be located.

The survey will be open until Sunday, Sept. 15.

Results will be discussed during the library board of trustees meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the meeting room of the Dundee Library, 555 Barrington Ave. in East Dundee.

The district serves 70,000 residents of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts, and parts of Algonquin.
