Belleville Althoff defeats Lincoln-Way West for 3A title

PEORIA - Belleville Althoff has shown why it was the odds-on favorite to win the IHSA Class 3A boys basketball state title.

The Crusaders trailed Lincoln-Way West by two points after a quarter but quickly erased that deficit in the second. They led by 12 at halftime and cruised to a 62-37 win on Saturday.

Junior Jordan Goodwin scored a game-high 19 points and Tarkus Ferguson added 11 as the Crusaders (32-2) partially built their lead off second-chance points (16) and limiting the Warriors (22-10) to just 5 offensive rebounds on 32 misses from the floor.

Lincoln-Way West grabbed just 19 rebounds overall compared to 44 for the Crusaders.

Peoria Manual 56, St. Joe's 55 (OT): Romon Douglas-Watkins and Da'Monte Williams scored 12 points each to lead Manual (27-5) to the third-place game victory. Nick Rakocevic had a game-high 26 points for St. Joe's (25-10) and Jason Towers added 13.
