UEFA opens disciplinary case against United, Liverpool
NTON, Switzerland (AP) - UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Manchester United and Liverpool following incidents at their Europa League game on Thursday.
Both clubs were charged Friday by UEFA with crowd disturbances and throwing objects following scuffles between both sets of fans late in the match, which Liverpool won 3-1 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw.
The incidents occurred apparently after some visiting Liverpool fans managed to get into a section containing home supporters.
Liverpool has also been charged with illicit chanting and setting off fireworks. United's other charge is for having blocked stairways.
UEFA said the case will be looked at on May 19.
