4 Evansville police officers disciplined over arrest actions

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Four Evansville police officers are suspended without pay after body camera video showed two of them using force against a handcuffed burglary suspect and screaming at him.

Police Chief Billy Bolin told a news conference Friday those two officers and a third who did nothing to intervene have been suspended for 21 days without pay and recommended for dismissal. He says a sergeant who reported the officers' actions were justified also has been suspended for 21 days without pay and recommended for demotion.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports (http://bit.ly/2f2TUyc ) the officers' names haven't been released.

The incident occurred Oct. 29. Bolin says the video shows an officer who was searching the handcuffed suspect poked his hand on a needle in the suspect's pocket before the force and screaming ensued.
