Southern Illinois police chief leaves to take casino job
SAUGET, Ill. (AP) - The longtime police chief of a southern Illinois village has resigned to become the director of security at a casino.
Former Sauget Police Chief Patrick Delaney joined Casino Queen in East St. Louis on Jan 1. The 57-year-old Delaney held the top law enforcement job in the St. Louis suburb for 31 years.
Delaney said it was time for a change in his career. Sauget has a 12-person police department, but he oversees 70 employees at the casino.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/1JPh2Ld ) former Cahokia Police Chief James Jones will take over Monday as the chief in Sauget. Jones was set to retire Friday as a Cahokia police captain.
